It is believed that Bhairava was about to attack Vaishno Devi when she took the form of Mata Kali and beheaded him. When he realized that the girl was Goddess, not any ordinary girl. He begged for forgiveness in front of Mata. Touched by his honesty, Mata blessed him by having a shrine made for Bhairavnath on the way to Vaishno Devi Temple
